- Use Go, Terraform, CDK, Amazon Web Services (AWS), SQL, and CI/CD (CircleCI) to deliver code in an agile environment for the REST API that enables Novant Health’s patients to search for and book care online
- Improved existing database and ETL processes by implementing event-driven, queue-based architecture for scalability, migrating from MySQL to PostgreSQL, setting up associated schema and data models, and automating schema migrations
- Refactored application cache from existing in-memory to an AWS ElastiCache Redis cluster, eliminating coupling between application containers and data, reducing discrepancies between container instances and increasing cache availability
- Improved monitoring and alerting by integrating Datadog and PagerDuty metrics, alerts, and dashboards and adding data checks to key partner data ETLs, which salvaged $50k+ worth of appointments from being lost due to missing data
- Lead and facilitate technical architecture discussions to increase application performance and availability
- Mentor and develop junior engineers; currently leading an organization-wide training on data structures and algorithms
